The Melting Pot

I can't believe I almost forgot to post about The Melting Pot. I preselected photos and created a file and it just got lost in the pile of 'to blog'. Oops! But even though this post is more than a month overdue, it has to be shared with you. =)

Let me start by saying I LOVE The Melting Pot (Richmond Hill). It was the first time I've ever been to The Melting Pot and I know I'll be back again. I had a wonderful experience and a satiated appetite.

Warning: Picture heavy post ahead. ;) I couldn't resist.

We had a party of six and we shared a booth with two stove tops so we had two choices for each fondue course as we all had the 'Four-Course Classic' ($43 CAD per person).

My magenta fondue forks! Each person gets their own colour so you know who's who when everyone's cooking in the fondue pots.

Our lovely beverages: 'Strawberry Mango Lemonades'! A little on the sweeter side for me but still delicious!

Ingredients for two cheese fondues and "rustic artisan breads, fresh vegetables, and crisp Granny Smith apples" to go with it.

First Course - Cheese Fondue

Fondue #1: 'Traditional Swiss Cheese Fondue' ("Gruyère and Emmenthaler Swiss cheeses
come together with white wine, garlic, nutmeg, lemon and Kirschwasser"). I did not love this fondue, the Kirschwasser was too strong for my tastes. If you like alcoholic cheese, you will love this. ;)

Fondue #2: 'Spinach Artichoke Cheese Fondue' ("Rich Fontina and Butterkäse cheeses blend perfectly with spinach, artichoke hearts and garlic"). This was good but a bit on the more liquid side which was a tad disappointing but still good. I wish it was thicker in texture. =P

Second Course - Salad

This was my salad, the 'California Salad' ("Mixed baby greens, Roma tomatoes, praline pecans and rich Gorgonzola cheese with Raspberry Black Walnut vinaigrette"). I wish I knew what Gorgonzola cheese was before placing this order - I picked it all out. I learned that I do not like Gorgonzola cheese. =P The rest of the salad was really good, especially the praline pecans.

My boyfriend's salad, the 'Spinach Mushroom Salad' ("Fresh spinach, baby Portobello mushrooms,
red onion, chopped bacon and Roma tomatoes with a warm Burgundy Shallot vinaigrette").

And the only other salad choice at our table, the 'Caesar Salad' ("Crisp romaine lettuce, Caesar dressing, shredded Parmesan and seasoned croutons finished with Parmesan-encrusted pine nuts"). The Parmesan-encrusted pine nuts were delectable.

Third Course - Entree

Entree Cooking Style #1: 'Bourguignonne' ("Go European with this cooking style in cholesterol-free canola oil / 0g trans-fat oil.")

Entree Cooking Style #2: 'Coq au Vin' ("Burgundy wine infused with fresh herbs, spices and mushrooms.")

Each couple shared a platter of "Seasoned choice Angus sirloin, dry-rubbed BBQ pork tenderloin, succulent white shrimp, herb-crusted chicken breast and teriyaki-marinated sirloin". Everything was delicious no matter how you cooked it but I think we favoured 'Bourguignonne'. ;)

Sauces for our food! I don't remember what they were...some were definitely better than others though.

Some veggies to go with our meat platter. My sister wanted to throw everything into the 'Coq au Vin' but you know potatoes deep fry. ;)

Two batters to go with the 'Bourguignonne' cooking style, though not necessary, it was delicious. There was a tempura style batter and another batter that I can't remember. You also get plates with sections for sauces.

My first attempt - perfection. =)

Fourth Course - Chocolate Fondue

My favourite course! I had to make room for dessert. =) I think we all did.

Chocolate Fondue #1: 'Flaming Turtle' ("We consider it Fondue Candy. It’s an irresistible combination of milk chocolate, caramel and praline pecans flambéed tableside.") It was delicious!

Chocolate Fondue #2: 'Chocolate S'mores' (The fondue version of this classic presents milk chocolate with marshmallow cream, flambéed and topped with bits of graham crackers.) Our lovely server flambeed both our fondues tableside. =) However, she mistakenly topped this fondue with Oreo cookies instead of graham crackers.

I definitely liked this fondue more. =)

And our plethora of 'Dippers' that included, "fresh strawberries, bananas, cheesecake, pineapple, marshmallows, pound cake and brownies". All super wonderfully delicious! =)

And before you go, because I know you'll want to now, don't forget to sign up for their 'Club Fondue' to receive a coupon for a complimentary box of chocolate covered strawberries. But do not sign up until you know you want to go because those coupons do have an expiration date. Also, please make sure to call ahead and place an order for them with your reservations.

We got half a dozen each. =) I was surprised they gave such a large box. I was expecting no more than four chocolate covered strawberries. =P

That's all for The Melting Pot. A place to indulge. =)

Oh! Almost forgot to include we met Chef Corbin Tomaszeski from "Restaurant Takeover" and "Dinner Party Wars" on TV. He was wiping our table and said they always send the tall guy to wipe the larger tables and all I thought was, he look crazily familiar, and then we Google-ed. =)

Thanks for checking out my blog!!! Feel free to comment.

    1. The four courses was definitely more than enough; I had to make room for dessert. ;)
